Our
Pearls
Most of our bracelets
and necklaces
are knotted between each pearl to prevent rubbing and damage of pearls.
This also prevents the loss of any pearls if the necklace should break.
Clasps or metal parts are either in silver plate, gold plate, 14K gold,
or 925 silver and this is detailed in the description.
Sea
shell pearls are made from crushed sea shells which are then reconstituted
into a pearl. They offer a much wider range of colours whilst weighing
and feeling like a real pearl, but at a much lower cost.
Looking
after your pearls
Below are some useful hints when looking after
your pearls to ensure the maintenance of their lustre and quality:
.. Do
not shower with pearls
.. Do
not let pearls touch any caustic soda or cleaning agents
.. Clean
pearls regularly with a soft damp cloth and liquid soap
.. Apply
hairspray, scent or cosmetics before putting on pearls
.. Wear
pearls as often as you can since natural body oil enhances them
Tests
for Pearls
In terms of assessing quality, this depends on
size (usually measures in millimetres), colour, shape (the rounder the
better), skin quality (without blemishes) and lustre (the brighter the
better). A number of methods of assessing whether a pearl is real include:
.. Rub
two pearls together and should feel a grainy surface
.. Scraping
the surface with scissors will not damage real pearls
.. Real
pearls feel sandy against your teeth
